Improve your cryonics odds and attend meetings
What is the Probability of Cryonics Working?
There is a difference between cryonics working as a technical proposition and cryonics working for a specific person. Max More distinguishes between these two ways of looking at cryonics and also shows the limitations of the conjunctive probability approach to estimating the odds.
70 Steps to a Positive Cryonics Outcome
In this sobering but inspirational guest post, Charles Platt lists 70 real-life factors that can complicate your cryonics arrangements, but also lists steps you can take to improve your odds.
Biostasis Technologies staff will be attending or (co)organizing the following in-person events:
New York City Cryonics Social
To coincide with the Longevity+DeSci Summit NYC this week, we are hosting a cryonics social Friday evening, August 11, at a private room at The Ten Bells wine bar in the Lower East Side, NYC . This is a great opportunity to meet with local cryonicists, learn about what is going on in NYC, and meet some visiting leaders in the field.

Dublin Biostasis and Cryonics Social
Join us for a private evening meeting with small plates and drinks on the last day of Longevity Summit Dublin on August 20. There will be short impulse talks about cryonics and its impact on longevity by leaders in the field.
This event will provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about human biostasis, share insights, ideas, and build new relationships with like-minded people.

Minneapolis Cryonics Local Response Training
On September 24, Biostasis Technologies, Resurgence Biomedical, and Minnesota Cryonics Rapid Response will be co-organizing a local cryonics training. The emphasis of this training will be on providing basic cryonics first response skills, but medical professionals (paramedics and nurses) are strongly encouraged to attend as well. We will also be talking about future developments and existing job openings in the field.

Longevity, Cryonics, and the Environment
The Environmental Thinking Institute (ETI) is an independent think tank that provides discussion sessions on intentionally unusual concepts relating to environmental solutions. On 30 August 2023, 7:30pm to 9pm UK time, the topic of discussion is: 'Longevity, Cryonics and the Environment'.
”Successful social movements of the past have been led by those personally affected by the issue, with examples including the Suffragettes and Civil Rights. Greta Thunberg rose to prominence on the understanding that young people today will be alive personally for the unravelling of the climate, not just their children or grandchildren. Humans are already using cryogenics for biodiversity conservation and human fertility. Is long term thinking a shared concept between these fields and the environment? If so, how can we build on this link to normalise long term thinking and achieve true sustainability?”
