Biostasis Newsletter November 2023
Cryonics 101, Remembering Steve Harris, and Strategic Meetings
This November Biostasis Technologies newsletter is a short one while we are ramping up for a number of high-impact 2024 projects.
Cryonics 101
Biostasis Technologies Director of Communications Max More just published a contemporary introduction to cryonics, which draws heavily on his new book in progress. Recent years have seen the publication of a comprehensive cryonics procedures manual and a detailed technical exposition of cryonics patient revival, but a good and accessible book-length introduction to cryonics for an educated audience has been lacking for a long time. Max More’s projected 2024 introduction to cryonics book seeks to remedy this. We welcome suggestions about what you’d like to see in such a publication.
A Man for All Ages
The cryonics argument draws on different kinds of disciplines (neuroscience, philosophy, cryobiology, resuscitation medicine etc.), so it should not be a surprise that many of the major figures in cryonics are Renaissance-type polymaths. In his powerful memorial, Brian Wowk shows the extraordinary mind and contributions of Dr. Steve Harris, a man way ahead of its time. Steve is currently a member of the “apparently dead” (to refer one of his thought-provoking articles), but we are working to change that.
Strategic Meetings
In November Biostasis Technologies and its sister organizations organized a productive 4-day strategic meeting to set out new goals and collaborations for 2024. You will read more about this on this website but expect new SST technologies, a second edition of the Cryonics Procedures Manual, stronger local capabilities, and a number of high-profile public events. We also will start a series of podcasts with prominent figures in the broader life extension and human enhancement communities.
