Cryonics organizations respond about their long-term care plans, and publication of the Steve Harris E-HIT paper.
Long-Term Patient Care Compared
Our Director of Communications, Max More, made the first comprehensive attempt to compare long-term care (and revival) options at existing cryonics and chemical preservation organizations. The results ranged from having made no organizational or financial plans at all (!) to having given detailed thought and organizational structure to long-term patient care. One surprising finding is that some cryonics organizations are not willing to answer those questions, which raises serious concerns about the legitimacy and transparency of these organizations.
Comparing Cryonics Organizations
Our article about long-term patient care options in cryonics was well-received and prompted some discussion about comparing cryonics organizations in general. If there are any topics that you would like us to cover, please let us know. One topic that emerged from this exercise is “transparency.” In a future article, we aim to compare how transparent the existing cryonics organizations are regarding topics such as membership, technologies, and protocols.
Steve Harris E-HIT Paper
It’s only a month ago that Dr. Steve Harris was cryopreserved at Alcor. Brian Wowk’s detailed tribute to Steve was well-received and extensively circulated among friends, family, and colleagues. Brian’s article mentioned Steve’s pioneering work in developing a quantitative measure to calculate the ischemic exposure of a cryonics patient. This measure was later developed into the S-MIX (Standardized Measure of Ischemic Exposure) by Dr. Michael Perry and Aschwin de Wolf. We are proud to now publish Steve’s initial E-HIT 2003 draft paper “Initial Cooling in Cryonics.” We have decided not to edit Steve’s initial draft to present this study in its original format.
