Christine Peterson co-founded Foresight Institute with Eric Drexler in 1986 and coined the term “open source” in 1988. A long-time advocate of life extension and cryonics, Christine writes, lectures, and briefs the media on coming powerful technologies, especially nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and longevity. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, and has served on California's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Nanotechnology and the Editorial Advisory Board of NASA's Nanotech Briefs. In 1991 she coauthored Unbounding the Future: the Nanotechnology Revolution with Gayle Pergamit and Eric Drexler.
In this podcast we talked about Christine’s history of involvement in thinking about powerful new technologies, the connection between enthusiasm about space and life extension, whether she thinks life extension will come in time to make biostasis unnecessary, her personal life extension plan, and which threats to the future she sees as most credible.
